Family owned and operated for over 65 years, Bigelow Tea is American's leading specialty tea company. Serving over a billion cups of tea each year, Bigelow partnered with Tellus, LLC. in 2009 to develop a more robust web presence. Tellus has provided Bigelow Tea with a full range of strategic services including information architecture, site design, and site development on the Tellus Commerce Platform. Additionally, Tellus, LLC provides Bigelow with website hosting services and enhanced online marketing efforts with SEO (search engine optimization).
Bigelow Tea can now boast that its online success is largely due to engaging consumers through the "3 Cs of Consumer Engagement": content, community, commerce. Faced with an outdated and cluttered site, Tellus research during the "envision" phase pointed toward recipes and youtube videos being primary drivers of traffic to the website. Tellus strategically structured the website to easily accommodate elements for each of the "3 C's" in the site design creating a cleaner, more intuitive design while housing an ever growing number of products, recipes, and educational videos.
In addition, content management capability allows Bigelow to easily manage updates to content, community, and commerce features of the website. Further, the site provides a single platform that supports multiple Bigelow websites including Charleston Tea Plantation, Novus Tea, Food Services Website and a Spanish language site. Website managers at Bigelow login once to make updates using site administration tools and publish those updates to all related websites, a process known as "centralized asset management".
Search capability is utilized to provide "dynamic navigation" allowing users to view a tea type such as "green tea" and narrow search results by user friendly attributes like flavor, decaffeinated, or kosher.
